Range of Classes


Adult & Baby

These classes will be taught with the teacher in the water. Parent/Adults must also be in the water for these classes.

  • Children aged 12 weeks – 1yr
  • Introduction to a new water environment
  • Adult learn the basic holds
  • Through play learn to submerge & gain water confidence

Adult & Toddler

As above.

  • Children aged 1– 3 ½ yrs

Water Confidence

(These classes may be in the shallow, middle or deep end of the pool but they will have a Teacher in the water to help)

  • Children aged 3 ½ - plus
  • Introduce those with no or little experience of swimming to the new water environment
  • Learn to move around the pool using arms and legs to achieve basic front and back strokes
  • Through play learn to submerge, open eyes and float in water

Beginners

  • Gaining confidence to swim across the pool
  • Learning to swim on their front and back using basic technique
  • Learn to go underwater
  • Introduction to deep water swimming

Improver I

  • Building on the basic elements of propulsion
  • Develop the main swimming strokes emphasis on good streamlining
  • Introducing water skills, treading water, sculling and swimming underwater

Improver II

  • Emphasis on improving swimming techniques on four strokes
  • Improving breathing so that swimmers can swim competently and for greater distances
  • Introduction to diving and personal survival skills
  • Introduction to starts and turns

Improver III

  • Swimmers will do circuits of the pool in lanes
  • Emphasis on developing efficient technique
  • Improving diving and survival skills
  • Develop starts and turns

Advanced I

  • Further development of main strokes
  • Introduction to Water Polo, and Synchronized Swimming
  • Develop diving skills and personal water safety and survival swimming
  • Emphasis on swimming longer distances

Advanced II

  • Swimmers will do distance swimming
  • Provides a basis for swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle
  • Advanced activities and Lifesaving skills

One to One Classes

  • Individual teaching.
    (Limited places available)

Family Swim

  • Fun for all the family
  • Enjoy the use of floats, and equipment
  • Relax and have a pleasurable swim with the rest of your family

Ladies Only Swim/Mixed Adult Swim

  • Teacher in the water to help assist with swimming
  • All swimming abilities welcome
  • Quiet, relaxed classes. Very suitable for nervous non-swimmers
  • Good way to meet people
  • Swimmers should be 18yrs +

Lifeguarding courses

STA National Aquatic Rescue Standard (NARS) Pool Lifeguard.
Lifeguarding courses learn the correct techniques for: -

  • Water rescues skills
  • CPR
  • First Aid
  • Spinal cord injury management
  • Age 16yrs

  • Mini Polo
  • Learn to Dive
  • Learn to Snorkel

Aqua Pilates

Aqua Pilates is exactly as it sounds - Pilates based movement in water!

  • Pilates is a body-conditioning programme that relies on strengthening
    the 'core postural muscles' of your back and stomach and will help realign your body.
