Getting to know you.Getting to know you

Richard Rose Central Academy attaches great importance to knowing each child well. All students are assigned a Tutor, who will be fully acquainted with the student, their needs and their course of study. Our Tutor groups consist of 15-20 students All our new students follow a rigorous induction programme both before and during the first term they join the Academy. They have the opportunity, together with their parents, to meet their Tutor, Guidance Leader and Head of Year before they begin in September. Supporting IndividualsOur exciting transition programme includes Outdoor Learning, known as 'Stepping Stones', which sets personal challenges, encourages teamwork, improves confidence and develops self-esteem.

Supporting Individuals

The Tutor works with the student to set achievable goals and monitor progress by liaising with other teaching colleagues, parents and outside agencies. Pastoral Support Workers, attached to each Year Team will help those students who are falling behind in achieving their target grades. The emphasis throughout is on positive encouragement of individuals, target setting and review and, of course, celebration of success.

Enhancing LearningA Rich and Extended ProgrammeEnhancing Learning

The Academy is proud of how we personalise our learning to ensure that students are given the opportunity to achieve regardless of any Additional Need.

All students are assessed regularly to identify further needs, both to support their learning (SEN) and to extend their learning (Gifted & Talented). All students with Additional Needs have an Individual Education Plan with milestones and regularly reviewed targets. Our integrated system means that all teachers are aware of the enhancements your child will need to maximise their learning and achievement.

We are committed to children achieving high examination results and gaining appropriate qualifications in order to transform their life chances and choices at post-16 and post-19.

A Rich and Extended Programme

Richard Rose Central Academy offers an extended Academy programme. This means that the Academy will provide a range of services that support the students, families and community throughout the week, at weekends and in the holidays.

Examples include visits to museums, galleries and the theatre, Duke of Edinburgh award opportunities, field trips into the wider area and abroad covering water sports, skiing, and cultural visits.

We host a wide range of outstanding performances in Music, Dance and Drama, with many of our students gaining excellent grades at GCSE, BTec and A level Performing Arts.
